Ocotillo Garden
The ocotillo plant is not a true cactus, even though it is covered with thorns all along its woody stems and thrives in the deserts of southwestern United States and northern Mexico. This was shot in Texas's Big Bend National Park. I was very lucky to catch the ocotillo in this green and flowering state. For most of the year, the tiny leaves on the stems are nonexistent, thus making them look like dead spiky sticks.
